“Scratching the Surface”:

These are some of the glaring questions which have been captured through the Citizens’ Constitutional Forum’s baseline study conducted in the three target provinces of Tailevu, Naitasiri and Ra in 2011.

Titled “Scratching the Surface”, the baseline survey was designed to look at the effects of Human Rights, Good Governance and Citizenship workshops in the communities and gather responses and frequently asked questions from the participants.

“Research results are mixed but basically validate the need for continued advocacy on the three issues in order to build an inclusive society which acts responsibly and recognizes the rights of all,” stated CCF CEO Reverend Akuila Yabaki.

The findings of the survey and issues which need enhanced civic education will be made public at a press conference on Monday February 27th at the CCF Office in Suva.

Media outlets are especially requested to send a reporter/photographer to the press conference for the launch of “Scratching the Surface” as there is a sense of urgency to put these findings in the public domain in efforts to address many of the issues which affect people in all communities.

 CCF’s Research Team along with CEO Reverend Akuila Yabaki will share some of the findings of the survey and how the information has been provided to other stakeholders to improve civic education programs.

A copy of the report will be provided and CCF’s Education team members who conduct workshops will also be available to share their experiences on the mind set of citizens.
