Youth groups encouraged to speak out
The Citizens’ Constitutional Forum encouraged youth groups to speak out and make better use of the national platform provided.
Talking on the theme Young Peoples Voice of Various Platforms – The Importance of Young People’s Voice, CCF Chief Executive Officer Sara Bulutani Mataitawakilai said that the event was a good platform where youth members from the various groups could raise their concerns and individual issues.
Questions from the participants included the right to express their grievances and ways it could be heard and solved.
“This sort of conference is a good example of a national platform where youth participants can listen to each other and raise their voices on issues relevant to them, a collective voice is more powerful than a lone voice,” Mr Mataitawakilai said.
More than 100 youth participants were present at the conference nationwide.
CCF strongly believes the importance of every individual’s voice to be heard, practice their human rights that will guarantee a more sustainable constitutional democracy in Fiji.
“Through a better understanding of your human rights, you hold the light to direct your fellow youth in your communities with hope and affirmation of good leadership. The onus is on you now to exercise your rights to an active political life,” CEO said.
