Report “Young People and Democratic Participation in Fiji ” 2014
The research focused on youths in Fiji, between the ages of 18-35 and shows the views of Fiji’s young people about elections, participating in-group activities and voting behavior. This research also shows results of how young people want to be defined, their interest in participating in political and democratic activities and their concerns in taking part in these spaces. Furthermore, the study gives their level of understanding and shows how this correlates with youth interest on electoral and constitutional reform. It is also interesting to note that the findings reveal what being young in Fiji is like and shares her/his understanding of the voting system, general elections, and the 2013 Constitution of the Republic of Fiji. Ultimately the results give a snapshot on what factors will affect and contribute to a young person’s voting behavior
