Synopsis of “Love and Hate

The play starts from the Bureau of Statistics, where Una meets her friend Fuata to Volunteer as Enumerators for the Population Census; she meets a young man by the name of Ram (Indo-Fijian ethnicity)whom she fancies on their first meet; Ram lives in an urban squatter settlement called WAKA. the play also highlights issues from certain articles of Human Rights. Where the play ends in a heartbreaking event, Ram passes on due to his illness and Una tries to get herself together, as a fact the Una’s family realizes their mistake of making decision on behalf of their daughter and who she chooses to spend the rest of her life with.

Theatre Performance

Performed there first play titled “LOVE AND HATE” in Ra at the Youth Leader’s Community Workshop.The session was attended by women, men, youths and children, the feedback were based on the real situation that we face each.

Feedback:

·         Acceptance is a big issue between the 2 ethnic groups in Fiji, the Fijians and Indo-Fijians.

·         Identifying and highlighting the violation of Human Rights in this play

·         Relaying the play to Real Life situation, in any situation that links to the play itself
